MattR: Don't get too excited. I came home one day to find this next to our driveway. It was for new copper :(

I think you could be right there; I may have come to the wrong conclusion. Although there were a couple of Chorus vans, I've since realised that I haven't seen any trucks from the local fibre company (HFS; the company that actually does the physical fibre work). It may indeed just be new copper :(

Am I the only one who thinks that it is taking too long for UFB to actually get rolled out? what is the hold up?

At least you have a planned time period, I just get 'UFB deployment dates for your area are still being developed'. That means I will have to wait till after 2016.

The national UFB Roll out is a 10year Project - we are in year 4 - there is no hold up, its still going and infact the amount of communial network installation is currently accelerating

Funny, since I moved into my new place the ETA was stated to be Jun-2014, but I now checked and now the map is saying May-2014.  Looks like a bunch of areas in CBD got collectively bumped up a month or two (my old place had ETA at July-2014 but now also say May-2014).

The waiting is done, but I guess once that gets flipped on more waiting will happen.

I do have to wonder though, what actually prompted this slight schedule bump.

My address originally said Dec 2013, then it was changed to July 2014, and now it says by May 2014... I rang Vodafone and they said yes, should be May 31st... So ring back in June to place your order...

Can't wait! Nice big fat 100Mbps/50Mbps coming my way shortly... Will certainly beat my 35/10 connection now.

Hi,

Apologies if this has been asked before, but is there any way to get a more accurate idea of the arrival of UFB in our road than the 'UFB fibre up to 100 Mbps between Jul-2014 and Jun-2015' I get at the moment ?

Thanks very much

Contact an ISP; they seem to have access to more detailed information (that's where I got "October" for my street even though the Chorus site has the "July-June" timeframe).

Thanks for the reply, will give it a go.

Though, if I'm allowed to ask, is that October 2014 for your area, which I suspect is rather close to mine ?

I'm sorry that I didn't respond sooner. Yep, October 2014. Area is Waiewe St, Whakatane (plus a few side streets).
