Hmm I'm on Odlin Crescent in Hamilton. The end house has access to fibre, I'm 2 houses away with 2016 availability? Talking less than 50 metres away!

They have to put the line for each round of installation somewhere, and there will always be someone less than 50 meters from that line.

Around here, they have done all around the cabinet so getting acceptable speeds just now, but me 600m from it on a crappy 19 meg downstream (and dropping) still have no timetable for deployment.

Argh, bummer.

Was just doing some research today, hoping to upgrade our Telecom home broadband to UFB.
Our house is about 400m away from the coverage boundary. But with no network upgrade scheduled...
Only able to upgrade to VDSL for now.

Stuck on the Riccarton exchange in Christchurch for the foreseeable future, too far away for VDSL and no UFB scheduled from Enable. At least get OK ADSL speeds though, just want better upload.

Don't feel too bad.  Queen St, AKL has just got UFB.

Putting fibre on my street and they've dug four holes in the footpath just around my house. Is this normal?

I would suspect that they are going to drill the ribbonet ducting (26 small tubes bundled in 1 duct) down the street and they are potholeing to identify the exact location of the existing services so they can drill past without hitting them. yes this is normal

TBD for my street. Been that way on the Chorus website for about 3 years now.

Behodar: I'm sorry that I didn't respond sooner. Yep, October 2014. Area is Waiewe St, Whakatane (plus a few side streets).

I see the Chorus UFB map now says 'UFB fibre up to 100 Mbps by Nov-2014' for our street (Berg Place)

Wife's cousin's house says "by Sep 2014".  Their footpaths have already been dug up and patched.

Unfortunately our house still says "by Jun 2015". :(

Right, I got the "October" date about a year ago, and plans change and I forgot to update the thread. At least it hasn't changed much :)

Good to see another local on here! :)

Hi, thanks for the welcome !!!

Yep, am sure I'm going to obsess for months over this, waiting for them to do something to those colourful tubes sticking out of the ground even though it is, I suppose, something I want rather than need, but I guess that's what makes the world go round....

Still showing "Still being developed" for my house, however the new development across the valley has UFB enabled. Might have to go make some new friends, and buy some point-to-point wifi :)

I got my blue envelope today. Fortunately none of the neighbours seemed to be around when I exclaimed "YES!" laughing
