2. An ISP has decided to zero-rate windows update

Hasn't WxC been doing this for years already? Most Apple updates come off the Akamai cache as zero rated, and I thought that Windows updates were the same (haven't bothered to confirm though!).

In most cases that is correct :) , as well as a whole swath of other bits and bobs

So… geekzone users get the joy of being pilot users for a new technology from an ISP.
…or geekzones uers get to provide feedback on a new billing mechanism
…or geekzone is directly involved in delivering support to an ISPs users
…or something that more closely inter-twines the two entities… what could it be…  Geekzone has IT Jobs, a price comparison tool, reviews… whats missing?  Arrrggghh my brain hurts…

I keep thinking it’s related to content caching and/or video streaming… but its not

 OK, I’ve got it!

Mysterious ISP x is launching a new online IT helpdesk!  It is not a helpdesk for the ISP, but a general IT helpdesk.  The ISP provides and promotes the service as a way to draw people to their brand.  Geeks provide answers for pizza… or maybe discounts on ISP services… or maybe cash, but probably not.

 askageek.co.nz is already taken.

My brain still hurts, but at least I get to be part of Mauricios premature emailation Embarassed

A Geekzone, Slingshot and SNAP America's Cup team entry?

Bags the "helmsman" position.

Edit: No wait.  I want a shore based position.

I have been told the project seems to be going ahead well, even with broader support than expected.

Community involvement will be from the end of the month, but we should announce details from sometime next week.

As I said, whoever replied here will get an email with more details before everyone else.

Whatever this project is going to be, it will be interesting if it will leverage the input from GZ members :)

I agree.

Maybe a special deal for Geeks. With MF getting some sort of kickback - I'd be keen.
