Snappernet have kindly emailed me a quick setup guide for VDSL bridging, but unfortunately still no luck. I do wonder now if there's some additional config required on the router, other than simply setting it to PPPoE with ISP credentials.

Biglegs: yeah, read about those and there is some controversy about their reliability. Insane is obviously a fan.

If you have any support questions on the ZyXEL P870H please feel free to contact me directly or ZyXEL support at support@campbell.co.nz

The only main issues I have seen have been wiring related and usually easily sorted.

I've sent Snappernet some screencaps of my config on both the DC130 and my RT-AC66U, as well as the limited log excerpts available from each. Hopefully they can spot whatever it is that I'm not doing right :)

Ah, good to know the 130 is now available! The 120 is\was rock solid.

Now, given that 802.11ac is something that would be useful to me, do I pair it with the Asus RT-AC66U or an Airport Extreme?

At this stage I can only suggest using it with an access point, not a router. Bridge mode and DMZ mode are flakey at best, and very low performance, in my experience. Mine's been put in the junk box and I'm back to bridging my TG589 with my RT-AC66U, it's far faster and more reliable. First time I've been able to say something bad about the functionality of a Draytek product :(

It's very good if it's in full routing mode, though, so sticking a wifi AP off it should be fine.

This has taken a little longer than expected, but we have a fix for this. It's currently a Beta firmware so some caveats apply.
But if you'd like to try it, contact us so we can give you the heads up on how it works = http://www.snappernet.co.nz/contact/tech/ or 09 415 4182

hmmm. All very good, but you have lost a market opportunity already.  I have now bought the ZyXEL solution which is working well.  Why release a product on the market that can't work in expected modes?  I'm not talking about performance, simply just working.

At least two device sales were lost here to the ZyXEL too.

But hey, not everything works first time.
