Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend from $150 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, data cabling and general computer support for home and small business.

If it's just RJ45 sockets patched into the phone line, RJ11/RJ12 (think DSL modem cable) plugs plug straight in.

Best not to use RJ11/12 cable in a RJ45 structured cabling socket as they can potentially damage the outer pins; then you will have issues using that port for data in future.

I can't believe I never considered that... I'll be re-terminating a cable tonight.

Do you want me to send you an RJ45 plug?? I'm not selling RJ45 to RJ11 cables anymore but easy to make one. The modem cable goes into the middle pins of the RJ45.

No, I have all the gear, and I'm more than capable of doing it, I just never considered the issue. Mildly embarrassing really.
