Hi all,

Is VDSL rollout still ongoing? I.e if an area doesn't have VDSL coverage now, will it have coverage in the future?

We got a phone call from VF about going to VDSL, but it's a 12 month contract and we're only going to be there for another 7-8 months and the place we're moving to doesn't have it, nor isit UFB available yet..

How can I find out if the new area is getting VDSL within the next 8 months, even if a low possibility?

InstallerUFB should be able to tell you if you PM them your address

I just moved from a UFB connection/area and wish my area was getting VDSL soon but I'm fed from a cabinet that is copper fed from the exchange so doubt it will happen any time in the future for me

If it's a metropolitan area, basically no.

If it's a rural/semi rural area getting an ISAM installed as part of RBI then it's possible. The Chorus website will list these.

VDSL isnt a sole technology, It runs alongside of ADSL off the same equipment. I dont believe it will have any further changes in urban areas. If you live in a rural area that has the equipment upgraded it may be able to run it and chorus will sell it.
@skewt in your case if the cabinet gets fibre and has the correct DSLAM it will run VDSL given it has no contention and so on.

As the above posters mention, if you're in a urban area probably not as it's dependent on cable length from the exchange.

Thanks all...have sent PM to IUFB.

It's just one part of Tauranga to another, so it looks like I'm cooked.

Have to wait for UFB install then once I move in...

Maybe they can allow you to switch to ADSL within your contract?

Check out Ultra Fast Fibre's website. The map is a little vague but hopefully give an idea.
