Seems a pretty good deal - ADSL rather than a VDSL offering.

heavy P2P shaping.  and about the fugliest website I have seen in a long time.  you can't even sign up online! you fill in a form and they call you back. the way of the future!

Their Wireless service is terrible, frequent disconnections and slow speeds.....

I think it says a lot that Woosh announced this on Monday and it has taken 4 days for a discussion on Geekzone to pop up. Normally we're pretty quick around here with tech announcements - often within an hour of stuff going public.

Most comments on Geekzone about Woosh in the past have been very negative, both wireless and DSL. More recent news suggests that they are in dire straits financially

Their website looks pretty old, and the plan is lacking much details, including contract details for that plan.  But it looks like there is a $60 setup fee, which over a year would make it $80 per month, if you spread that fee out over the year. Looks to be reasonable value and I may consider it for home use when I come out of contract, but it looks to be catering to the bottom end of the market. I wish they had a vdsl option though for that plan, eg for $10 more.

I think woosh should merge into another company and become a good ISP for once.

I've had awful experiences with them and they were way overpriced.

Avoid like the plague.

Post anything to their Facebook and you'll get banned, not kidding. I phoned up regarding one of our customers and asked if I could just get them to run a quick line check and confirm their broadband stability and got "I don't know you at all, how do I know you are who you say you are? I am not giving you any details of this line" - I already have all the details, just wanted a quick line check done.

And now, for some strange reason I can't call them at all, their IVR hangs up on my phones (personal mobile can get through to their IVR), honestly, their customer service is non-existent and even the customer couldn't get any results out of them. The solution to sort out his line issues was to go to another ISP then log a fault with that said ISP who resolved it very quickly and were professional about it in the process.

I thought they were a reasonably sized company, and I believe at one stage they were installing a wireless network in the Wellington area. But it looks like these days they are mainly a fixed line ISP like others.

They took over a bloody good little ISP years ago and ran it into the ground. They have odd business sense.....

The team at Woosh saw this thread of conversation so thought we'd try and address some of the comments or concerns that are posted here. Woosh have been around since 2004, originally launching one of the world’s first wireless networks with sites in Akld, Wgtn, Chch & Sthld and although the network is due for an upgrade to 4G, (average speeds are about 600kbs) it provides a cheap alterative connection to the internet. Like all wireless networks signal strength is important and proper set up is required for the best performance.

 

Woosh started selling ADSL broadband in 2008, and has grown a good customer base. In 2011 we won the Canstar award for customer satisfaction.   So although some past users may have had a bad experience by and large we think we are a good company to have your broadband+ phone with. We currently answer most calls in about 2 minutes which is substantially better than most.

 

The new uncapped plan does have throttling on P2P and may not be for everyone especially advanced internet users, and we are very upfront about this, but at $75 it is the best value in market for most people. In the near future you will be able to sign up again online.

Sorry I have to disagree. 2011 was quite some time ago and your CSR's attitudes have gone from "lets help!" to actually not giving a damn. I feel the feedback on this thread was completely avoided.
