Yup, the map hasn't been updated but the actual prequal database has :)

It doesn't look like anything's going to happen this side of Christmas though; my install is still with the "design team" and I haven't been given a date yet :(

That would tend to explain it, I think.

Still trying to decide whether to stick with Spark or save some money and move. Moving generally seems to involve VoIP, which will be fine so long as it works.
Also read about these installs that go wrong which puts me off a bit, especially for doing anything before Xmas, but also read about Chorus cutting back on install quality, which if true, makes me want to do it sooner rather than later.
On the other, other hand, we actually have one of those street junction thingies in the ground literally in our front garden, with nothing but grass from there to our house, so can't be that difficult.
Oh well, if there's one thing I'm good at, its prevarication........

There is now a spraypainted blue dashed line on my front verge (along with a couple of neighbours') that appears to follow the Chorus fibre. Innnnnteresting...

Edit: And on closer inspection there is also a dotted orange line that appears to terminate at my driveway. Interestinger :)

I'd begun to give up hope of getting it before Christmas but it's looking like it may still be possible!

Blue would now normaly indicate TC/VF cables (used to also be the colour used by Telecom (before Chorus days) / Orange/Red - Power / Yellow - Gas / Purple - Chorus / White - construction marks ie what they indend for the civils team to install

Hmm, I don't believe that there are any TC cables in my street; it's certainly not an HFC area (I live in Whakatane) and I'm pretty sure that there isn't any Clear fibre up my residential street.

Orange could conceivably be power though; I don't know where the cables run but the dots are probably in a sensible place. Existing Chorus copper is overhead so I don't expect any markings for that :)

Edit: The orange marks do appear to start at a power pole (although the actual connection to my house is underground).

if I post too much more detail then I'll probably have rb99 knocking on my door! surprised

There seems to be a bit of Telecom stuff still left over... my dad had Vodafone UFB installed at his place a few weeks ago and the card that the installer left still said Telecom on it!

I suppose, but am simply interested in your progress as you managed to start the install process when I was still checking Chorus's map and wondering when they were going to update the thing, which they say they'll do by the end of the week, by the way.

Forgot to add, hope that is seen as harmless curiosity.

Well I faithfully promise if you see someone wondering up and down the road outside your house inspecting the road with a torch for coloured markings it definitely isn't me (probably)
