Someone is looking for a UFB install. Is it possible to get this done without a contract like Big Pipe and if so what are the costs that they will have to pay? UFB is part of the govt isn't that? Any other costs? There is no master splitter like VDSL.
Yes you can get a no contract UFB install. Snap charge $99 setup fee and $345 - $395 if you need a router. For a 12 month term the setup fee is waived and the router is discounted by about $60, early termination fee $200. For 24 months there's no fee, you can get a free router or pay $50 for the higher model, but there's a $500 early termination fee.
No we have UFB with Snap already with our 2yr contract coming to an end mid 2015. Dad's relative is looking for a internet for a rental place.
In terms of the UFB installation are there any costs involved? The place currently have copper wire only - telephone - no internet at all. Big Pipe has been suggestged here - no connection costs and no contracts and a cheaper rate per month with the entry speed being 100Mbps.
If you want to actually use the connection, myrepublic will probably be better. 3 month free trial and you get a router too. With Bigpipe you need to provide your own router, so that's an extra $200 or so expense up front.
Just do t forget to cancel an send the router back before the 90 days is up or you will roll onto a contract.
Many thank - pulled out and might go with My Republic. Rather nice modem and for the same price (first 3 months free) equals about $89/79 per month and it's 100Mbps instead. Big Pipe no need to spend $200 for router also.
What's the general opinion with My Republic anyway? We have equip already so next year for our one, we prob go with Big Pipe, have modem and UFB now away. $79 and not $99.
My Republic have only just launched in NZ. So you probably won't find out much about them at the moment. But supposedly they are really big in Singapore. (they are Singapore owned) So should have good financial backing for network investment ect. I say definitely sign up to them. As they would be starting to build a NZ customer base. Im on contract so I can't switch myself.
