Seriously, on a port waiter bottom of Parnell.

If we dont have internet in Auck city, thats pretty tragic. I wish Aussie would take over commissioning telco services in NZ.

Sorry for the rant, just feeling very deflated as we use it for telecommuting and thought the previous port was being held for us, not that you should have to have a port held in what is supposedly a big city.

The rest of us prefer our superior NZ service (once connected).

how can we have a problem with port availability? didnt they spend billions on this.

port availability and waiting 4 months for UFB approval is just typical of the so called super city. super inflated RE bubble is about all thats super here at the moment.

You want the Aussies to take over our telecommunications. The same Aussies that use plastic bags to repair their copper network, and the same Aussies that scrapped a FTTH rollout in favour of using that copper network held together using plastic bags indefinitely?

Im referring to upgrading of exchanges. How can there be port waiting, its like if you asked to have your electricity connected, no sorry sir we dont have the capability at the moment, wait 12 months and one might be available then. Its ridiculous.

Whats the point of UFB if you have to wait months to connect to it when its available?

TeaLeaf: Whats the point of UFB if you have to wait months to connect to it when its available?

The point is that it can be an order of magnitude faster than copper. Yes, it takes a while to connect but I don't know how you can be so negative; people need to do work and UFB doesn't just magically spring out of the ground.

I'd be more than happy to ask Chorus to cripple your connection to meet Australian broadband standards because what you'll get here is vastly superior!

My new UFB would have been installed within 10 days of me ordering it had it not been for my being on holiday during that period.

RunningMan: What sort of port are you waiting for?

well i asked for UFB but was told it would require approval, the fibre is in the st.

so i agreed to stick with vdsl.

i presume its the mayoral drive exchange that feeds parnell?

re aussies it was cynicism and frustration at my situation.

Hang on, so you're actually in a fibre area that's already built and you're complaining about not being able to get a VDSL connection?

SMH.

Cheers - N

So you're not in a fibre coverage area?

The way I read it you're upset that Fibre isn't an immediate install, and you feel that there should be further investment in the Copper network, even in areas where fibre is already built? Is that right?

Cheers  N

yes i am and requested it but my isp has said it will take chorus months to negotiate connection with body corporate etc. so they said connect vdsl, when previous tenant moved out chorus didnt swap the connection over as requested, they gave it to another waiter, which i guess is standard protocol.

ill be here 6-7 months, so waiting 4-12 months for internet is just nuts.
