My gut feeling is that at present CGN is still a relative rarity, so a list of providers that do use it is easier to maintain. If it needs to swap to the opposite type of list in the future then that's an option, but I feel like I have zero free time at the moment so don't want to make this any more of an administrative burden than it needs to be.

I think most of the cheaper providers and new providers use CGNAT. Suggestion, list the ones we know. E.g. if we know CGNAT is used, list it, if we know CGNAT is NOT used list that. I notice, some people saying you can ask to have it disabled, or request a static IP. It would be good to cover those cases too. Just build it out with the info we have and put a date against each entry as a reference for when it was last checked.

And lastly, I totally understand you're busy, and thanks for your efforts.

I also like @deadlyllama idea of listing IPv6 support.

@lucasnz @deadlyllama As I mentioned IPv6 is basically on every provider with the exception of Spark-Skinny / Now / MyRepublic. It isn't my place to edit the post changing the format or anything but really IPv6 support among ISP's is pretty high.

If you need IPv6 / Public IP (or cheap Static) then Quic or Voyager. I personally use Quic myself and they're great from both a price standpoint and the fact they support everything you'll need (also no CGN). If you want a free sign up there is a link / promo code in my signature.

In this other topic is a mention of a Slingshot user plugging a landline phone into the ONT. Is anyone able to confirm that? Slingshot's own documentation says to connect it to the router.

They really need to update the Fibre Landline guide as it only talks about plugging the landline into ONT if your using the Netgear Orbi.

Maybe some geekzone members working for Vocus could update the Fibre Landline guide on Slingshot stating landline can be plugged into ONT.

Now does use VLAN tagging except for certain grandfathered customers or edge cases.

I joined them July 2023 , when joined it had vlan tag . It was changed Feb 2024 .. I lost 2 weeks internet due to changing without notify the customer :(

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.
