So earlier this month, Chorus finally completed the fibre role out on my street. 2 months behind schedule but you know, thats just Chorus. A bit under 2 weeks later the Chorus map shows fibre is available in my street along with other blocks in my local area that all went live at the same time (Someone working on chorus said the hold up was to wait for local blocks to role out at the same time) Im in Auckland by the way.

So the map says all green so I check with the ISP's to see if their offering fibre yet for our house. Nope. So I decide, wait a fortnight, check again and if its not ready yet, contact Spark and Bigpipe. 
Waited a fortnight, Still not available so I contact Spark and Bigpipe to see what up on their end. Spark first tells me to check the chorus map after telling the support staff that i have. Then tell me they haven't heard anything from chorus. Check with Bigpipe and same story, Check the chorus map, Then tries to sign us up to one of their ADSL plans for "While we wait" linking me the terms of service for the fibre install on chorus's website. We cant dive strait into this due to having multiple phone lines we cant lose and a number of other factors. Have to be methodical no matter how much I just want to dive head on into a fibre install. But to progress, we need to know if fibre is available or if we need to hold on for a bit.

What i am trying to say is, Is there a way to get a confirmation that fibre is available without being signed into an install? Our copper line is shot, Chorus has been coming over for years to patch it up and we do really want to move on to fibre but we are not getting that confirmation that we need.

Help?

In your new fibre area, since it is new Chorus will list it as available on the map but it will be listed as unknown in the internal Chorus database, that's why ISPs is giving you feedback like this. Usually when your address is on the map then it means it will be good to go for fibre. Having fibre installed won't affect your copper so no need to worry about that.

Same thing happened at my cousins. I contacted bigpipe and they gave some information to order it despite the site saying not available.

Sisters place has gone live on chorus but I have messaged snap who she is with and no joy. I would just get bigpipe instead but shes in contact with snap and is happy to stay with them. Will retry them on monday.

We were one of the first in our are on fibre.

Our ISP is Mynxnet and they kept pushing Chorus until we got connected.  When Chorus said "fibre is not available at that address" as the database they used hadn't been updated yet so Mynxnet escalated it and kept pushing until Chorus admitted it actually was available and accepted the job.

I suggest you try mynxnet if you want fibre soon or you can wait until all the different databases are updated.

I'm also with Mynxnet and I "pre-ordered" fibre. I got an installation date before the map even turned blue :)

Thank you guys, Seeing as you guys recon its probably internal with chorus thats the hold up, Ill try and get the ball rolling.

I;ve had the same thing in Greenlane. Fibre all laid. Good to go. 

Call my telco / ISP...the lady in Manila knows nothing about it. 

Complete waste of time.

Seems to happen quite a bit, on freshly laid fibre, chorus tool says yes its ready, ISPs say no - if you get ISP to do a manual check it usually comes back with build still in progress.

it was around a month just recently for parts of Birkenhead, for the chorus service tool and the ISPs check to match up where i could order.

Im just down the road in Ellerslie. Were getting desperate again as out phoneline and internet is dropping out a lot again. Chorus would rather not repair the line and move us on to fibre especially when we have said we want to move on as well. But still cant get anything from the ISP's

Where abouts in ellerslie? Sister is Arthur street and DSL has been hopeless since they dug for fiber with several outages needing visits from chorus.

Snap not answered yet about getting install happening. am on contract so can't just jump to bigpipe.

This whole roll out has taken way too long and broke so many things along the way.

when you contact your isp and they say you can get connected

also check the chorus map for when it says you have UFB now available.

I am about to move in two weeks time and was just about to put through a request to Bigpipe to move my existing VDSL.

I checked the Chorus Map and UFB is due to be ready at the end of this month (June), so though oh well, I can upgrade soon. Curiosity got the better of me and I checked out the Snap and Vodafone websites and their address checker said UFB is available now. GREAT !! Checked the Bigpipe website (great crowd so no reason to change) and they said not yet available ! (Same with Spark). Go figure lol.

Anyhow, will send a request through to Bigpipe for an address change and will see what I can get in two weeks time.
