Hi everything, I am new to this forums. Nice to meet you all.

I have bee sign-up a VDSL and one of the  Technician came to my house and commented that I need to Install Cat6 cable from the outside demarc to my existing chorus, which inside my bedroom.

I have done a big search this afternoon of What the hell all this about and I kindn of some idea now around the "cat6". However, I have few questions:

How hard to do a DIY to install a CAT6 from the demarc to my router (inside my bedroom) and what do I need beside a the cable ?

If I hire a Networking Technicians to Install Cat6 cable, how much will it cost in average ?

TAHNKS GUYS

who did you sign up with?

Most ISP's VDSL installs include a master filter/splitter and cat 5 cable from there to a newly installed dedicated VDSL jackpoint.

call your ISP and enquire about what the install includes and then lodge a complaint

The technician that did the VDSL installation would normally do this.

nope

they should install a master filter/splitter and cat 5 cable from there to a newly installed dedicated VDSL jackpoint.

unless they physically cant, then they may use existing wiring in the house.

where is your modem in relation to where the cable comes into the house

"

Is it easy to install VDSL and how much does it cost?

It’s super easy! When you order VDSL you can let us know the date and time you'd like to have it connected. It will require a technician to visit your property to install a master splitter and new master jack point in your home. Don’t worry – it may sound complicated but it’s not and should only take 1-2 hours. You’ll need to be at home during this time to make sure you’re happy with what’s going on.

We have a range of VDSL plans and when you sign up to a 12 month contract standard installation and a top-spec modem is free too."

Thats from the spark website

im guessing he didnt install a mater filter/splitter either then?

also its not sparks fault, its chorus and their subcontractors fault as they are the ones who are suppose to do this sort of work.

Definitely make a complaint

It's not Spark's fault.

So in a VDSL install the cable is run from demarc point to a new master jackpoint of your choosing?  Or is it run to the position of the existing master jackpoint - so if you're modem is in an upstairs bedroom phone outlet would a run of Cat6 to there be included in the install?

Chorus techs are getting EXTREMELY lazy when it comes to VDSL installs. They bullsh1t the customer in to thinking they don't have to do the work when in fact they do. I tell my customers that they tell the technician where they want the jack and don't take no for an answer. If they keep having issues they are told to ring me and I set the technician straight.
We have been working with our wholesale manager to report all these issues of techs being useless as it is becoming a massive problem. I would assume Spark do the same so please complain to Spark and be as detailed as you can as to what the tech told you and the reason they didn't do the work.

I don't think you should tar all installers from Chorus with your lazy brush

The Chorus guy who came to do my VDSL upgrade from ADSL was excellent he rewired our telephone line as well as installing  a new master filter. He was punctual and a good person to deal with .
