Wanted to share my experience so far.

I'm building a new house in a fibre only subdivision. Our house completion date is the 23rd October so on the 18th August I placed the order for a 200/200 connection with Mynxnet to go live on the 16th October so I had a week before we moved in to resolve any issues. A bit of a conversation later and we're settled on the details and I leave it with them.

Got a phone call last night from Chorus. The first appointment to discuss the install is 20/10 and the install will be on the 4/11 ( original dates where even later but they managed to move it forward for me ). I queried why so late and they told me that they'd only received the request at 11.52am that day.

I tried to call Mynxnet but their number 09222something wasn't a valid number apparently. I've emailed them and waiting for a response.

I've called them a couple of times so their number used to work.  Normally I'd email them when I needed something.

I'm sure they will respond to your email soon if they haven't already and explain what has happened.

This is the normal standard at the moment. Waiting time for installation range between 3-8 weeks (or more), this is excluding potential problems with fibre ducting (which will add an additional 10 working days and occurs regularly), consent issues with shared driveways, installers not showing up and other unforeseeable circumstances. There just isn't enough contractors doing the jobs to cater for so many people upgrading to fibre it seems, and when problems do arise they have to go through procedure hence the 10 working days to sort out any problems.

Just to clarify, this is just my experience so far, I don't yet know if it was Mynxnet who delayed it, or Vibe or even Chorus.

However, the guy I spoke to at Chorus was really helpful about trying to move it forward as much as possible so I'm very thankful for that. He also put me in the list for any cancellations.

The time frame from Chorus is fine, no issue at all, just don't know why it took over a month for the request to get to Chrous in the first place.

Install will be really easy. The fibre is sticking out the ground in the corner of my section, there's conduit next to it which runs underground to the side of the house ( also has a draw cord in it), there's a duct through the house to a dedicated comms box in the garage with power and also networking to go to my switch.

That's what we thought as well when we moved into our new house (fibre only), with the cable already prelaid and home wiring already setup for fibre. Now there are problems with the main fibre pipeline/ducting being blocked, which is a common occurrence and have to wait 10 more days (everything was supposed to be finished this Monday) then we will need to rebook the installers which will be another month at least. So it's probably best to have lower expectations.

Ultrafastfibre is the company that does our area (Hamilton). When we placed the order with Spark, it took close to 2 weeks for the order to go through and this was with us calling them several times to move the order along. Then it took another week or so for UFF to contact us to set a date for the initial scoping.

We are still waiting for the blockage issue to be resolved and it has already been 2 months.

Had a response from Mynxnet, appears that its an internal chorus error which Mynxnet are pressuring them to resolve. Fingers crossed.

Mynxnet are good at keeping the pressure on Chorus.  You are in good hands.

We have UFB orders in a number of cities and towns and the install dates are now into November.

Well, happy conclusion, Mynxnet has push chorus and got the scoping meeting changes to the 7th October and the install date to be the 20th October which is 3 days before we move in so I'm a happy customer. Have tried to change the title of this thread to UFB install woes and it reflects negatively on them which isn't the case but I can't change it unfortunately ( or rather, I can't work out how to change it :) )
