Hi,

Thanks to everyone for posting their trace routes here. After pointing 2 Degrees to this thread yesterday they have identified the cause with the routing and are in the process of rectifying the issue with their upstream provider. It was blatantly obvious that there was a problem with the routing when compared with other ISP's trace routes posted here, as most of them used the same upstream provider.
Thanks once again and have a good festive season and New Year.

Regards
Mark

Most of the time the problem is on Wargaming's side. A traceroute only tells half the story - you really need a traceroute from Wargaming's server too, which you can get from here: https://lg.wargaming.net/lg.cgi

I've given up on the signapore servers, when I signed up for World of Warsheeps I went back to NA.

Hi,
Just an update - Contacted 2 Deg by email to ask them when the issue would be resolved and was told that it had been sorted. Emailed them back and told them that it had not. Received the following reply:

"Hi Mark,

Thanks for contacting us here at 2degrees.
I've spoken with one of our technicians they have advised me that the issue is not relating to our network. As you have noted it's on of the hops which is where the issue lays.Would it be possible for you to get a trace route from somebody on a alternate connection, thanksIf you have any other queries feel free to contact us at our call centre on 0800 022 022 toll free"

Contacted support via phone and was given the run around with the final answer being "not an issue with our network" This is after they emailed me and also posted here that they were aware of the network issue.

To close to my rollover date now to change ISP's but will be doing that early next month.

Regards
Mark

It doesn't matter which ISP you go with, you'll have trouble getting a stable low ping to Wargaming Singapore. Move back to the NA servers if you want a better ping - that's what I did.

Don't expect it to get any better until there is a new Perth-Singapore cable, which might happen next year.

This decision is not only to do with the routing to Wargaming as I have had this issue twice before after the cable was cut and all it
took was a phone call to Snap and the peering was sorted in a day.
All the trace routes posted here are a confirmation that there is something wrong with the routing with 2 Deg, as no other ISP's are
experiencing the same issues even though most are using the same upstream provider.
Correct me if I am wrong but they pay the upstream provider for the service but they cannot contact them and tell them to fix
their routing issues?
The level of support is now abysmal - phone any time and support is always experiencing a high volume of calls.
Email and you lucky to get a response in 2 to 3 days.
I just get the overall impression that support can't be bothered.

I can't comment on your other issues with snapdegrees as I haven't had to call them in years, but the ping times to Wargaming Singapore are not their fault - it's Wargaming's fault. Wargaming are actively choosing a longer path for traffic from them to 2degrees. They are overriding the usual BGP best path selection to choose what turns out to be a higher latency path.

WG Lookingglass

Path 5 would usually be selected as it is the shortest (2 AS hops), but they're overriding it for commercial reasons. You say this currently only affects 2degrees, there's no guarantee that it won't affect any other ISP next week.

Edit: I've emailed Wargaming's NOC, Lets see what happens. They claim "rely on stable connections with short roundtrip times" so they should be willing to fix it, however in the past I've always had trouble.
