And in tomorrow's news, Vodafone is releasing a new line of hats... because apparently now businesses are just flinging off random companies not even slightly associated with what they do.

Find out more at www.StuffFibre.co.nz

LOL - Click-baited again. You find out exactly nothing when following the link. Glad to see they are keeping up the high traditions of the Stuff website across there new products as well.

Stuff.co.nz has slowly descended into gossip magazine level "news" such as The Block NZ: Contestants Sam and Emma caught in bed together and Naz admits sleeping with The Bachelor 'more than once'... I doubt many people would turn to them for a quality internet service.

ISPs hate them! Here's ten things your ISP doesn't want you to know about Stuff's new Fibre service.  Number 7 will blow your mind!

Awww - I've just signed up for 2 years on 2 Degrees.  What a shame!

More seriously, I'd be concerned by any media outlet openly admitting that they will be allowing the filtering of "unsavoury" content.  I'm sure that's what the Chinese and Korean governments say too.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Stuff paywall in the near future with "free access" to StuffFibre customers.

To those in the know, what quality level are the "Netgear 6220 gigabit routers"?  How do you stand out in an overcrowded area that is basically re-selling Fibre?

  • Call Centre
  • Price
  • Equipment
  • Speed
  • Value-added service (Lightbox/Neon etc.)
  • Content
  • "Other Deals"

Does Sky in NZ offer Fibre yet?  If not, I suspect it will come.

Procrastination eventually pays off.

Can 'Stuff' be trusted to report on other ISP's anymore in a fair and balanced way? (whether they do currently is a moot point).

This would be the main question I'd want to put to them. Granted there is probably no answer that is going to satisfy everyone (or anyone?), I'm nonetheless curious what they have to say about it.

I think they'll use their internet product to bundle media content (when access to news in NZ eventually requires a subscription). Could be ~$100 for a UFB connection and a newspaper or something...

Exactly, its a highly regulated markert with much larger players, the profit margins are slim and I cannot see what synergies they can add to entice customers to them.. ( unless they are going to actually start paywalling content to non-"stuff fibre" users)

Oh I dunno, people seem to join MyRepublic and they don't seem provide much in the way of "synergies" (or indeed "performance") - they just advertise a lot...  :P

Not sure if this would be an advantage or a disadvantage - are the ads or the content worse on the stuff website? Tough call.
