miztic:

My VDSL connection got upgraded about 2 nights ago, went from 33Mbit Down & 7 Mbit up to 40 Mbit Down & 10Mbit up.

I'm wondering, should i change the VDSL profile on my modem (dsl n66u) from 30a multimode to 17a multimode (now that i'm on 17a instead of 8b)? or will that not change anything.

Don't mess with that.

Realistically 17a vs 30a multimode will only be able to do 8b/17a on nz connections but still..

AidanP: Today my modem reset, was getting 53/9 now I'm getting 35/12 with the line stats looking like this
Hopefully my download will increase with the days coming, currently on the 8b profile and only 250m from the cabinet

250m from the cabinet. You should be getting much better speed than 35/12. Suspect some kind of in house of outside wiring issues. Do you have a master splitter in the house?

ddDLM is decreasing your down stream sync speed significantly which is odd, perhaps wiring or interference issues. The up stream sync speed increase is expected as that seems to be the main benefits of ddDLM.

yes i have a master splitter, had to install it ourself as slingshot insisted that we didnt need one, anyway is has cat 6 wiring

Also just a quick question, would anyone tell me what band card my cabinet has in it, the cabinet ID is TAWAC, thanks

Ah pretty sure that one only spits out vendor clientside.

Another long awaited visit from DLM at 4am today.

Finally our Far End SNR Margin has dropped from 12db down to 5dB.

This produced a +2Mbps upload sync but still stuck on 8B. Interleave is not moving yet, so our ping is still up at 13ms.

Noise margin change from from 9dB to 6dB kicked in today on 17a profile. Now 70/23, however speedtest reports up speed still maxing out at 10. Orcon connection with the supplied NF4V. Ping Sounddude, can anything be changed to make use of the increase in up speed, a profile setting at the other end?

If your maximum connection speed is much higher than actual check the Interleave Depth
What seems to be happening is Interleave Depth is used to make a line stable

I've been doing heaps of firmware and SNR tests and last night the Cabinet decided to give me a much much higher Interleave depth
My max Connection speed is as it was, but attainable dropped by 8Mbps (downstream only)
Interleave depth went from 170's to over 700 for same connection speed, and I can pretty safely assume that the interleaving is at play with ddDLM
Am hoping a stable line for a few weeks will bring down the interleave depth

Wow, that is deep. Did that bump up your speed test ping?

OK, I see now after checking my previous interleave stats that my ping has also been static at 13ms regardless of depth which also jumped from 0 to ~250 when I played with the Draytek SNR adjustment and firmware updates.

Dilemma is if I use the STD firmware there are no Stats at all, other than connection speed, SNR, and DS attenuation
I tried various FW going back to 2015 but no stats show with STD FW

Stats do show with Modem 4 and 8
Modem 8 gives me Profile 17a as I'm at currently by default
Modem 4 and STD gives me Profile 8b, modem 4 goes to Profile 17a with a SNR tweak.

Currently running Modem 8, with no SNR adjustments
I'll leave it like this till all my solar gear turns up and I move modem closer to the road
I'll see what happens, can live with the current speed as I have a carrot to look forward to.

Ha, I feel your pain. I was also previously on a STD firmware and was fooled into believing I had a perfect line because all the CRC and error stats were zero for years :)

I'm sticking with Modem 8 also - It's stable so I'm just leaving it alone.
