I envy your speed gain :-)

Mine has gone from 51Mbps Down to 57 Mbps Down and 10Mbps Up to 17 Mbps up according to SpeeTest. Sync speeds are 62 and 18 respectively.

Not a big big improvement but it is still nice to get a free speed upgrade, especially the upload direction. I am stuck with copper technology for a while as I have a alarm system.

Hope that the neighbourhood will move to fibre soon and that will get me even more VDSL speed :-)

Huh? Pretty poor service from your alarm company if that's the case. Either get an IP dialler or cellular.

The alarm system is pretty new and can be upgraded to have an IP module. The issue is wiring to the location of the router. It is going to be a semi major exercise to wire from the alarm control module to the where the router is. Looking at the hassle, I have decided VDSL is good enough for now. The wiring can wait till the next major renovation.

They can put the IP dialer in a different location to the alarm panel. You must already have phone cable back to somewhere that you could get Ethernet to. That can be used for the dialer. Power from the panel on 1 pair and the fake phone line back to the alarm panel on another pair. Don't let an alarm hold you back. Or get a monitoring company that just uses one of the 3g boxes that fakes a phone line to the alarm panel.

It is actually the other way round. Old speed. 51 down and 10 up. New speed 57 down and 17 up. So around 10% improvement on down but 70% improvement on up. The up stream improvement is significant and nice.
