your sync speed would have changed

but everyone should be on the new system by the 5th of may as per: https://sp.chorus.co.nz/product-update/were-upgrading-copper-connections-nationwide

@hio77, any reason i wouldnt have got the disconnect on the 29th? had one about midnight on the 24th though. im guessing they have changed their schedule

As it stands right now, the ddDLM profile is not showing on vdsl lines that have migrated.

As such even the best of us at rsps can only assume.

Is possible yes. Without saying too much I'm aware there was a few shakeup along the way.

Just remember per the rollout, most lines were planned for the other day. Not all.

smalltrader:[snip] I am stuck with copper technology for a while as I have a alarm system.

Huh? Pretty poor service from your alarm company if that's the case. Either get an IP dialler or cellular.

The alarm system is pretty new and can be upgraded to have an IP module. The issue is wiring to the location of the router. It is going to be a semi major exercise to wire from the alarm control module to the where the router is. Looking at the hassle, I have decided VDSL is good enough for now. The wiring can wait till the next major renovation.

What kind of phone cable has been used to connect to the alarm? As sometimes CAT5 is used and sometimes a thin white cable called telecom homelan. If it is the telecom homelan that stuff is simply 2 pair CAT5. You can still use it for 100BaseT ethernet. Surely an alarm IP module won't need gigabit.

Otherwise why can't you just get a cellular based monitoring module?

I was in the same position - no easy way to get a cable to the alarm from the router. Got a GSM module installed with a 2Degrees prepaid sim card in it. It texts me when the alarm triggers and I can arm or disarm remotely with a text message. Just have to remember to top up sim card annually.

There's nothing your ISP can do. Just leave it alone and hope it gets better.

i am not sure how i fit in this one -

But, i just moved house. so from adsl (5 mbps) to now vdsl (50 mbps). (feels great)

i restarted my router and did speed test ove LAN, got 64 mbps Down speed and 3 mbps upload.

But wifi is bit wierd. shows only 30 mbps down.

is it normal or need to do some tweeks ???

FYI: i havent reset router settings since i changed moved from adsl to vdsl.

Could it be due to that ?!!
