The builders said the installer would be able to install wire through the walls. The guy yesterday gave me zero confidence he could do that. So I have no idea how or where to put the OMT. I wanted it put all the way down the other end of the house by the TV, but doesnt sound like Chorus can install phone/fibre lines, so Im seriouslly considering cancelling the installation at the 11th hour as drilling holes was mentioned originally but that doesnt help much now with the build that was agreed upon using the copper entrance. The problem is there is no obvious point where that is. The UCG guys said the installers can tell where the wires are with guns like you use for finding beams, but when I asked the scope guy he said no. I could BARELY understand him and had multiple mis understandings due to his lack of english.

Feel very dejected over the whole process which is to occur tomorrow.

I cant see them drilling anyway, her apartment for some reason has this 3ft thick concrete that is about 6 10 foot in from the wall.

Ive been under and I cant even find the phone line entrance. Everybody elses is obvious as it has a coduit for telephone and one for electricity.

Yay the tech today sounds much more onto it and pleasant.

Im sure if they can just trace my line it has to go into a hole somewhere in the concrete....

I just odd there is no obvious terminal cap leading in like the other apartments. It might be due to that slab of concrete they couldnt install there when the buillding was made in the 60s.

The easiest thing would to drill a hole over by the TV and run a 20m conduit under ground for my install and that way they dont need to touch the copper.Definitely be the fastest and easiest, maybe not what the body corp will love but hey, its the tech decision not mine :-)

Wow that sounds like a complete nightmare :( It doesn't give me much hope for fibre installs, I keep hearing tons of nightmares about them.

Id like to give you confidence. Are you in a house or apartment?

Mine was particularly bad due to communication. Chorus lady told me last April they will begin my process when Fibre was finished in pit in June, Richard our rep on here has informed me there is no way for that to occur. So I waited around for a few months assuming they were doing something. It wasnt until I took things into my own hands and got the ships with it all that things started moving, but its still been 6-7 months to get to this point. UCG drew a diagram that is not up to CCDP standards. Its showed a solid line indicating the line from the pit to the building, following this the consent letter mentioned the possibility of having to dig (its a cookie cutter letter, which it shouldnt be, or some sections should be tailored) as the Bodycorp put 2 and 2 together and objected. When in reality the SOLID red line represented an existing conduit for the copper into the building that they planned to replicate, so no digging required. This then went into consents which even with Richards help took over a month to get somebody to meet with the body corp for a 5 minute chat. And then after that they took another month to get somebody to come. So its a learning lesson for UCG and Chorus, out of the 2 Chorus is by far more helpful, UCG is their sub contractor and in all honesty after a long time in IT and Telco, Ive not met a worse 3rd party, whether that be software devs, dark fibre layers, or installation field force.

In saying all that, the guy I have coming today I can actually understand what he is saying and he sounds on to it, so Im sure together we can sort something.

If you live in a house, I think your process will be a lot easier. I have solid concrete below me and no roof access. So makes installation harder as well.

Where a standard install on a house I would have thought shouldnt take longer than a few weeks if you own it, if its rented a couple of months max.

I'm in an apartment, I've had a few issues trying to get connected myself. I have a couple of threads here. Eventually my install was escalated by Chorus after I pinged them on twitter. I had a person come out and do the scope a week ago. This guy was much better than the previous guy was. I'm hoping it's smooth and relatively fast from here on out.
