Pretty much. Who is the relevant authority that I should complain to?
Seeing as you did not fall for their "sales tactic" the commerce commission is likely to be your best bet.
Definitely the Commerce Commission although the better your evidence then the better the result.
Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
I got one of their mailers in my letter box with the 'free tv' offer, and did have a quick look at the offer online. The problem is that it is very difficult to compare pricing of the combined offer, to what I have currently got with Spark and Genesis. Power pricing is extremely confusing and time consuming to compare, especially when you factor in gas as well. I think the better deal for me was a free broadband for 6 months. But I am not a fan of 24 month contracts, especially for power. But I may look into it in more depth when my current 12 month contract is due to end with my current ISP
I highly recommend Consumer Magazine's "Do Not Knock" stickers. I got a handful from the Resene shop a year or three back and have only had one salesperson knock in all that time. They left quickly when I pointed at the sticker, and the company apologised when I mentioned it on Twitter.
Doesn't keep the religious types away though.
Hi @davout,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We have strict rules and guidelines in place regarding our doorknockers and how they portray our brand and services, but in this instance, it appears that this has not been the case and is extremely disappointing to see.
We would like to investigate this further. If you could please PM me your Name and Address – I will escalate this onto the appropriate team.
Thanks,
Tane

I made a modified version for our front door:
I have a CCTV camera watching the front door and it's pretty satisfying seeing them read it and leave.

I wonder how long it will before door knocking for business, and hawking is banned. Luckily we do have the door to door sale act, which I believe allows people to cancel a contract within a certain period of time, but I don't think too many people are aware of it.

Or Chorus with a roll of fibre for your install :)
I would be out there waiting for them with some cold redbull for them. No knock needed ;)

I had a door knocker from Compass comunications offering unlimited inter long before others had it, in their paperwork it said it would take 8 days before they would take over my broadband, you can cancel a door to door sales contract without penalty inside seven days.
Sadly I went with them and regretted every second of it.
I know enough to be dangerous
quickymart: I thought they charged you for leaving them, even if your contract had run out?
hope that is not true and surely not legal if your contract has expired you can leave without any penalties. I am with TrustPower and leaving them soon as my contract is expiring. I did have speed issues when they initially connected the fiber but i complained and they sorted it out in 2 weeks, since then it has been great, no issues

I signed ATL forms with all the couriers and gave them the code to a box so I dont even have to answer for them
