Trying to get help from Vodafone, is like trying to talk to a Cat and expect an intelligent reply.

I gave up on vodafone support years ago, they are ignorant and useless.

I frequently contact them via Twitter or Live chat, and they either deny all knowledge of an issue - or give a nondescript, non specific, default response of "we're actively investigating blahblahblah".

 

It's not surprising they have The worst rating for customer support, I used to work for another ISP many moons ago and even having to work with them on something was teeth-grindingly frustrating.

Still having issues with this, I fired up my VPN sub to see if it would change it - it seems it has, but it's a less than ideal long term solution.

Again, I recommend you speak to Vodafone.

Now that Blizzard seemingly run their own global network, are there any NZ ISPs who peer with them directly??

 

I'm guessing this time is some instability at the shared IXP and routes got dampened.

my high level understanding is blizzard pushing towards their own global network is somewhat what created this.

 

 

 

Don't think i can comment past that.

 

 

Excuse the spikes, my spark line is being dedicated to Sparksport right now.

@hio77 - I understand you cant speak for the issues regarding Vodafone (they are still suffering from the issue) but can you possibly expand a little on what the issue was in regards to Spark and what was done to resolve it?

yup.

It's my understanding from multiple industry contacts that blizzard have been reaching out for peering agreements.

I am not at liberty to share, but if you look at the traceroute it's kinda quite clear what GGI has done.

I've got trust in @gaddman to work through it. He's always pretty good on these ones. Give him time. These things are tough. Especially if they too are in brownouts for RWC.

That last contact from Blizzard on the Overwatch forums says

 

"Hey again,

 

Just to update this thread we no longer need additional network tests. We did attempt to reach out to Vodafone but have not received a response just yet. Please feel free to continue contacting Vodafone to report the routing issue.

 

Thanks for the continued correspondence and patience in these matters."



That was literally just a few mins ago.

They also said this on the WoW forums about 24 hours ago

"Hey all,

 

Just wanted to provide an update on this. It looks like the fix for this will need to be coming from Vodafone. We are actively working with them on this, but please do contact them directly to report the issue too. The more reports they get the higher the priority to fix it will be."

There's a post in the Overwatch Forums from VFNZ (dunno if its a legit account or not) that says:

"VFNZ are learning your routes via the Equinix route-servers.
We notice that when patches are preformed on game servers etc we see a result in traffic going via the USA"
