Placed our UFB order with ISP of choice today after UFB has finally come to Torbay!

Funny thing is the Chorus website says my property is considered a single dwelling, but we’re actually the second house down a shared driveway.

Our house was bully in 2016 with a new driveway laid, so the copper wiring is in a green duct to our ETP, could it be that Chorus are aware that the property has a duct suitable for UFB and knows it will be a simple case of reusing it?

There are 4 microducts ready to go next to our grey post.

They're most likely not aware. I would wait and see what the tech says at the scoping appointment.

Yeh......😔 Definitely not the greatest bit of work done by one of our contractors. We were already in the process of sorting both the issues before someone at the Herald picked them up. Must be flavour of the week.

@chrispchikin Sounds like the records are wrong for your address. It’s all automated based on land parcels and unit titles. Just one of many reasons we perform a scope before starting any work, so that these sort of details can be checked. If there are existing conduits from the dropoff to your property, you may be in luck and we can haul the cables through without any disruption to the neighbours. This would allow us to complete your install as an SDU even if you are not a front house.

However, if there is any chance we have to dig, cut or cause any alterations to shared property then its going to have to go through the Right of Way (ROW) process. Our tech will ascertain this during the scope visit. If you have any further questions or want more details, feel free to flick us a DM with your address and I can look into it. ^RH

Ours was the other way around, Chorus said we were in a MDU when we're a standalone house!

All sorted in the end thanks to @ChorusNZ
