Just had an interesting experience with Compass broadband last month.
I used to have broadband from a small Wellington-based company called ZeroOne (they were basically reselling ICONZ ADSL). ZeroOne was acquired by Compass Communications earlier this year and nothing had changed really. In June/July this year Compass Communications started contacting me regarding canceling the ZeroOne resale agreement with ICONZ and offering their own service (which was actually more expensive than the ICONZ package). Fair enough - the reason why I'm still irritated about how a company can afford to treat their customers was that they gratefully offered to waive my installation fee (which installation, I'm their customer already) on a 36 months (!!!!) term. Yeah, right!
I was discussing that fact with the Account Manager for Managed Services and argued that I find it quite ridiculous to treat me (being an existing customer of a company they've acquired) as a new customer with all the t&c/term crap and that I expected to have the "installation fee" waived as I'm technically their customer already. No chance, they didn't want to discuss that even further.
Well, anyway - I basically just ended up moving my broadband over to ICONZ directly - took about 10 minutes to enable my new account with them - great service, great people - you can actually speak to a technician if necessary and I knew what to expect, was and am still very happy with their service.

Lesson learned - avoiding Compass Communications broadband and their other products from now on - very bad service, ppl!

I had compass wireless for about 2 years, it was good for the majority of the time untill their data monitoring system started to fail. 

It wasn't counting the data usage correctly and was saying that I was under my cap, but their own internal system was saying I was over. I new that their one was correct but argued that i monitored my usuage through the public service. I ended up getting my money back for them charging me for going over.
I know that's pretty debvious, but they were charging $90 a month for 2mb/256k 20gb Cap. So I felt I deserved a working system for the premium price they were charging.

But they still wouldn't fix the data usage site and put up a message on the site saying "Use the invoice you get from us at the end of the month to monitor your usage." As soon as I saw that message I changed to Snap.
