I've signed up to it now - will see what the wait time is. Person down my road is supposed to get it this week so I am thinking perhaps this is just the easiest way forward at this stage.

It would certainly be cheaper.

That will include laying the fibre.

Despite being a heck of a lot of money, that's still actually quite a cheap quote. I've seen people post on here of getting closer to 10x that as the quote.

While a lot of money, the comparative 'çost' of fibre depends on the time line.  

Assuming $17,000 extra for fibre ($18,000 less the approx. $1000 for Starlink) over 20 years at current mortgage interest rates repayment would be about $95 per month. 

Starlink costs $165 per month, Fibre Broadband costs about $100 per month.

So having Fibre installed is about an extra $30 per month or about $7200 extra.  While fibre may or may not add actual value to a property it will certainly be a good marketing feature for a rural property.

Am waiting on my quote to come through, the estimate is $20k but that could of course change. 

My install will likely be:

1) Expose about 6m of the 12 core distribution fibre, install a splitter in the 12 core fibre and cover the 6m of exposed fibre.

AND

2A) Drill under state highway 25 (10 m width at most) and install a pit or a pedestal with a FAT (Fibre Access Terminal).  The pit could be either side of the highway, the pedestal could only be on my side, as the road boundary is actually well inside my front paddock.

OR

2B) aerial fiber on power poles (pole is right next to the 12 core fibre and on my property) and install a pole mount FAT (Fibre Access Terminal)

Lucky that the local exchange already has the Optical Line Terminal equipment installed.
