We are at the end of Kensington Drive and used to get VDSL from the cabinet closest to the Expressway If I recall correctly, we used to only get 20 download and 2 upload.

Has the performance improved in the last 3 or so years with the migration of users to Fibre and Wireless BB? If so, maybe I'll trial it again

Ok Forget that your maximum is about 30mbps to the end of that road :)

I have a rather flakey ADSL connection. This Starlink sounds like it will be perfect, at a price I am happy to pay.

Just one question. If for some reason it didn't work out, could I go back to ADSL? I have sort of heard if you move off copper, you can't go back. There is no fibre available.

If you disconnect copper in a fibre area you can’t get it back
If you disconnect copper in a non fibre area you can get it back
If you life in an area with no current intact line (even a non fibre area then you can only get fibre (even if it’s thousands of dollars to install)

We went off copper in an area with no fibre available, and it still shows as being available at our address

Hopefully not much if most people move over to the new plan...

Starlink are pretty vague (eg "Standard service is always prioritized over deprioritized service. This means that speeds will be lower for deprioritized service relative to our Standard Starlink service, especially when the most users are on the network.")

Looking forward to hearing from new users of the plan (especially if they have Samknows).

I'll need to test in e evening though, as I'm guessing that's when it may have more bearing.

This would be perfect for me. Currently on 40/5mbps vdsl in a rural area. Would love the extra upstream and a bit more downstream wouldn't go amiss as there's 2 households on the connection. Not to mention the extra reliability as we do get powercuts occasionally and that takes down the local dslam due to their backup batteries getting nicked.

Of course the big question is what 'deprioritised' looks like in practice. Would love to see some peak time analysis of both speed and latency before I drop the $$$ for the hardware.

must be one heavily underutilized sector!

Impressive that at the price there may not be a upper cap set that's all much different to standard services.

Evening speeds: 200/30 23ms
Speeds aways good at my parents, not an overly populated area. There are certainly other areas that speed is lower.

Well I just signed up, so assuming it all goes well, will finally be rid of ADSL and the winter time drop in performance (moisture in cables, don’t even think of complaining).
And monthly cost is cheaper…
