Auckland - likely to go opt for Skinny. @nztim

Not sure if they Skinny has a system in place to do this.... during the sign-up process is there a from you can fill out? saying please activate port 2 on the ONT

just signing up online has the risk of switching the primary connection at the address rather than activating the secondary.

Skinny do have a process to handle this - I used it not too long ago to request a port 2 activation. From memory the online form asks if you have an existing connection and if so, whether you want to transfer it. I just said no to the first question and I put a note in the comments field asking them to activate port 2. The order went through to the LFC (not Chorus lol) as a port 2 activation with no issue.

This would be perfect for online rather than waiting for the non-real time messaging service.

Having a look through the forms, there isn't an option for either bringing the service or a free text comments box. They want you to pay really quickly!

I found talking to someone over the phone (for my Spark connection, but similar processes I'm sure) was the most painless way to organize moving my connection from one property to another as a Port 2 service at the new address. That also let me get a earlier scheduled timeslot than the web tool was offering.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

Thats the difference between a full-service ISP like Spark and an online/chat only ISP like Skinny (even though they are the same parent company)

Skinny making it difficult, not accepting a non-NZ passport or drivers license for the 12 month contract.

I'd prefer not to sign a contract and have a rolling month to month service, so opted to go with Quic.

Purchased a TP Link router, nothing special but more than adequate for my relatives needs.

Quic signup was easy and service was activated at 6am on the date requested. All super duper!
