If you have a Goldcard, before you apply for a CSC card, your Goldcard is re-issued with a Client number that has NZS/CSC printed on the back of the card. You never get a CSC card.

Vetta/Chorus are to be congratulated for your initiative but based on my experience perhaps some fine tuning is needed for eligibility.

I am eligible, but when I go to sign up, an eligibility condition of 5 or more adults in the house pops up that I had not seen earlier. I have 4 so don’t qualify. I am also due to return to Quic on Monday August 4. I am currently with Voyager.
Having a CSC does not mean you are poor. I qualify for a CSC because my taxable (retired) income is low. The CSC is a measure of low-level of taxable income but you still qualify if you are asset-rich. My taxable income is low enough to qualify for a CSC. I live in a house worth about 1.4 mill and live on drawing down invested retirement capital as well as NZ Super.

I am assuming Vetta do not want to cannibalise their existing customer bas (including Quic), and that the target market is low income, living at an address served by Chorus Fibre and not connected to 'the internet'.

Assets that don’t generate income shouldn’t matter imo. You have no control over what a house value may increase to and unless you get a reverse mortgage a house can’t generate income unless you get a boarder

Skinny Jump is a great service but it’s footprint can be quite small as it’s dependant on the local Spark cell site having enough capacity and with it being a wireless (4G) service you can run into capacity issues during peak times. Plus, not unlimited. It’s a service that has been around for years

I fully agree though! It’s helping many out but in areas where UFB is available an unlimited deal like the one Chorus is doing is far better - especially not having to worry about data use.

Was trying to find the School Equity index for someone that could probably use the service and it was a bit of a mission,so below is the link.

Made me think of now common situations where parents have shared custody of a child and it lives with the other parent week about. Would both parents qualify if they are low income and use the student route?

I notice https://www.vetta.online/local-linkup/ after entering an address now only asks re schools and does not ask do you have a community services card.

Trying to sign up a relative with a community services card but no children. Does the CSC criteria no longer apply?

This is what I get. Have tried Chrome and Edge and I get the same.

I note that Whānau Link https://xn--whnaulink-6bb.nz/ has criteria listed as:

You may qualify if you:

Hold a Community Services Card; AND
Either:
- Live in a Kāinga Ora or Tāmaki Regeneration property with an inactive Chorus fibre connection (3+ months); OR
- Have a child enrolled at a school with an Equity Index of 490 or higher.

Eligibility requires confirmation of address and documentation. Signups are open until 30 September 2025. After that, you can join our waitlist while we await further updates from Chorus.

I tried this now. I enter my address and it just asks if I have kids attending any of a list of schools. It didn't ask me for a card number.

Thanks for all the feedback this far, we’re getting loads of it which is helping us tweak and ensure we’re getting things right!

You’re correct that the checker had changed slightly, asking about a school eligibility first, however there is a “No” button underneath (which needs to be made more prominent) which moves you into the CSC requirement if eligible. 👍

@saf I tested and if I click NO it just shows me the $59 100/20 plan. Is it because of my address?

@freitasm Yep correct, there’s a bunch of prior address eligibility checks that run prior, so if you’re not getting the CSC prompt, you’re not eligible.

@godber check the reply here. If the address is not eligible then the only thing to allow it seems to be school enrollment. A CSC card in itself doesn't seem to be a qualifier. This matches the requirements you poste from the Whānau Link
