I have one pc in the house and one in the garage, the pc in the house is the host connected to woosh and the one in the garage is also connected to woosh with dlink router and wireless adapter, also.

So now I have a laptop that has Intel Pro Wireless (and i'm not sure what that does either) because it hasn't done anything so far except say its connected to available network.

Could someone tell me how to connect the laptop to woosh wireless. I have been unable to connect to the internet thru wireless but can do so thru lan connection? and it is listed on the dchp clients list at the woosh gateway website, I think thats how you say it.

Check the wireless adaptor's settings on your laptop for a static IP. If it has one, set it to "Automatically Assign" for both the IP address and DNS server.

What is the signal level between your laptop and the access point like?

Woosh Wireless

For Wireless devices connected into a Woosh Gateway we recommend the following configuration and basic trouble shooting.

(Woosh Gateway IP address is

 **(Follow this first step only if your router has not been setup to work behind a Woosh gateway If already configured please move to the next paragraph)

Unplug the Ethernet cable from the Wireless router to the Woosh gateway.

Connect an Ethernet cable form Wireless router LAN port into your computer

Navigate to the LANIP setup (or similar) and change the IP address to – Turn off the DHCP server on this wireless device.

Click Save and then connect the cable from the Woosh Gateway into one of the LAN ports on the Wireless router.

Ensure that Ethernet cable is connected into the LAN ports and not a WAN port for simplicity.

Wireless settings

It is good practice to change the SSID or network name from the default (personalise).

Check that SSID is being broadcast, the channel is set between 1 - 11 and if you have encryption ensure you know the pass phrase (password).

During initial setup bring your laptop into close proximity to the router. Ensure you have your wireless LAN adapter enabled (some laptops have a physical button to enable / disable the adapter) and search for wireless connections.

Select a network and try to connect entering the required password.

If you encounter issues i.e. continuously trying to obtain an IP address or receiving error messages, try removing wireless security to ensure there is a basic connection is obtainable and there are not any security protocol incompatibilities.

If the connection works with no security then try WEP or WPA-PSK to secure your wireless connection.

For more advanced troubleshooting if you are using wireless zero configuration (windows default wireless connection manager) ensure that the service is started and that it is not being managed by another third party application.

Should you require further assistance, as this is a rather generic trouble shooting answer, call the Woosh support centre.

Hello and thanks to people and your replies.
It's been sorted. I ran out of patience after about x5 weeks of grief and got and it person from local paper to sort laptop connection etc.

He turned off the dhcp (i have forgotten terms now) in the wireless router i already had connected and changed the security to wpa-psk and password, don't know why.

So all is good (for a few weeks now) as I write this from my laptop and can see the pc icon with the X3signals coming from it in the lower right hand corner.  Yippee.
