Also, there would be tax implications around separating your business and having one side making a loss and the other side not - the IRD looks very seriously at these things.

Considering its the Guvment that forced Telecom to separate as they have I would suggest there are processes and methods in place at IRD to deal with it. Not that I would know anything, Tax accounts and its perpetrators are someone I would have on the first advance ship to search out the next galaxy by lunchtime if I could :(

Sorry to get back to the original thread topic....

Before cabinet switchover:

Line Attenuation 61dB   Download speed  1.2 Mb/s

After switchover:

Line Attenuation  11dB   Download speed  12.8 Mb/s

Then after replacing plugin adsl filters with an inline wired filter:

Line Attenuation  2 dB    Download speed  16.8 Mb/s Laughing

The cabinet is <50m from my house.  I was amazed the difference the inline filter has also made, not least  to the quality of voice calls on the standard phones in the house.  Never going to use a plug in filter again!  Now I need to research things to see if I can tweak any more out of the setup.

Plugin filters are simple way of getting ADSL. If you want the best performance from your line, particularly if you have ADSL2+, IMHO a master splitter is essential.
