We are moving back to AKL after 2 years in Japan. We are preapred for a huge schock after enjoying 40mb fibre unlimited data.

ust need some advice on what to get and who we go with.
We won't need a lot of data usage but need to be as fast and stable as it can be. Use skype for work.
ADSL2? (Telecom website indicates that it is available at my address)
What providers?
Cheaper to get landline togehter?

Have gone to but only lists Telecom as ADSL2 provider.

Phone (Voip or Fixed Landline) and Internet (Wireless or ADSL or Naked ADSL)

Naked ADSL (No Phone Line)

If you going to be in Wellington or Christchurch you can also look at Telstraclear Cable plans for phone + internet, or just internet.
