Telecom don't seem to be able to find a happy medium like Orcon/TelstraClear.

Telecom's 2c/MB to remain full-speed is simply way way way too much....so when they introduce something like Big Time, what did they expect to happen? Of course there will be a torrent of people switching over, given the options they have on their other plans.

The 0.083c/MB that TelstraClear charges is far more reasonable, and the Orcon price range for data blocks is roughly the same.

Telecom needs to sell it very expensive so they can claim how expensive bandwidth costs are.

It's impossible to know the true cost without being a real participant in this market.

Telecom Wholesale though, should know. As the head of the telecom wholesale is also a director in southern cross cables.

In the end it is an unlimited plan. If you aren't allowed to download everything to your hearts content, it's not really unlimited is it?

how can you say that! Don't you know internet is considered as water in NZ, excessive use results in public condemnation. A string of articles in the herald even coined the term "vampires"! Sure all of this seems rather bizarre when Southern Cross Cables are totally under utilised and already debt free ahead of schedule, but nevermind, gotta drive that stake through them bad vampires.

148gb for this billing period so far. Most (if not all) taken up with shoutcast streaming.

I dont bother with streaming, the same data could be used to get something I can keep, which to be honest usually sounds a crapload better than anything on most streams.

I do watch some live ustream stuff a lot, but thats not really comparable to shoutcast audio for content.
