So if a ADSL splitter has been installed by telecom does it matter if the telephones are daisy chained?

nope, because the broadband modem is connected directly to the splitter,

then the rest of the phones dont matter because they're just phones and yeah :)

What happens downstream of the voice port of the filter does not matter, thats the purpose of the filter to isolate the wiring and connected voice devices so that only the voice band is connected to the inbound line and cannot effect DSL signals.
