I know a few of you have a problem with iHug but I just want to share my recent experience with them.

I am shifting house on Saturday so there are a few things to sort out and my broadband connection is obviously one of them, so I make my call to iHug, I am on hold for about 3.5 minutes, which was kind of annoying because it was in the middle of a good song and the operator heard me singing along. Embarassed Ok so i get through really quickly, happy so far... I enquire about shifting my connection and get told it will cost $99 ok a little expensive, then "hang on wait your on a 12month contract" they say "...And your 5 months through it, so we will waiver that fee for you." again I'm happy with that. I am then informed that it can take up to 15 days for Telecom to do their bit, but I can have FREE dial up until I am connected.

All in all the call took about 10 minutes, and at the end of it I am one VERY HAPPY customer, now (unless something major happens) I don't think I will ever change ISP's

I will also write them a letter voicing my appreciation.

I've been with iHug for over 10 years. Can't really say I've had any problems with them. Service is fine.

15 days? That sounds like a strong point in favour of Woosh!

That's a Telecom problem, not iHug. Probably get it done faster for businesses.

Yes, I wasn't meaning for my post to be taken as a critism of Ihug. Making people wait 15 days to move a connection to another premises is apallingly slack on Telecom's part.

That's an up to as well, last time it was only 3 days, no biggie. Oh, yeah and Woosh, in Carterton HAHAHAHA!

A little off topic, but can relate to the 15-day Telecom delay...

Rang up Telecom on behalf of a client the other day to organise getting a connection moved from their existing offices to new premises. Was told by the Telecom CSR that due it coming up to financial end of year, Telecom was putting more effort into installing NEW connections rather than moving/reconfiguring new ones and as such my request could comfortably be book in for 4 weeks time... !!

Crazy. He was just lucky that the 4 weeks fit perfectly with my timeframe too, otherwise words would have been said (even though i realise that any comments to TNZ CSRs fall on deaf ears)

I have had no major problems with them, Minor niggles, yes but nothing majorly killing off the net (unlike the inverse of the word "Less" without the E)

I still use iHug as while the helpdesk is hopeless the network seems reliable and I didn't even know uploads were not counted against usage till it was mentioned here so there you go.

Had a Ihug account from them since the early years and still have a dialup accounty only now to keep my email address.

Why?

Believe it or not Ihug (old news here but posted for newer readers) after going over my data cap (yes we know) Ihug would not turn back on the tap, offered credit card offered to change plan asked for manager and no way would Ihug let me pay more to get back on line.

Have now switched broadband to Orcon

The Autosense overage model (on all plans except for Surfer Basic) means that if you go over your free data allowance additional data is charged at $10 per extra 5GB 'chunk' of data. We wouldn't dream of slowing you down! (not a plug but highlights a ISP offering real service)

Thats another thing they Ihug charge you for a email account.
