Hey clutching at straws here, but is anyone else on the St Heliers (Auckland) exchange and having ADSL issues?
Last week and for the last two nights I've had HUGE latency, and constant dropouts.

I've tried multiple routers (yes!!), multiple filters, and multiple different cables.  Spoken to ihug and they've had Telecom reset the port with no luck.

They're scheduling a tech to go check out the exchange, but aren't thinking they will find any issues.

Hugely annoying.

Yep, i just moved from St Heliers Bay Road to a spot in Meadowbank a week and a bit ago, same exchange i think...having huge issues with CZ(CS Condition Zero). Changed ISP though when I moved and have been blaming them, could be that it's a generic Glendowie exchange fault? Might get on the line to slingshot (new ISP) and see what they say....

One question long have you had your conection up for? It was running sweet before last week right?  All i know is that since they hooked the new place up on Friday I have had ping fluxing constantly from 90-350 without stop.  This coming of a solid ping of about 70ish at the old flat.

strangely enough it's all good tonight.  We've been in this house for 2 years running ADSL, and never had problems as bad as the last month or so.

But as I say, all good tonight for some reason.

Hmmmm....i really don't know aye.  Just did the consumer speed test thingy and i am getting my full 2mb down and 130 odd up and yet my ping is still sitting on about 240...can't find anything good about slingshot so thinking about switching to I-hug...doesn't cost me anything at the moment and can't really hurt.

ping goes on your upload speed (i think) so thats why ping is high.

Ping is the round trip time. ie how many milliseconds it takes a packet of data to go from your computer to the server being pinged, and how long it takes to get back. So ping is affected by both upload and download speeds.

Traceroute (tracert in  windows) maybe of more use as it will show the ping for each individual hop between you and the server. If there is a massive time delta between your IP and Telecom's IP then it is the ADSL that is slow, else it lies somewhere else along the line.
