Has anybody come across any information regarding approximate dates of when Tauranga UFB fibre rollout will be completed and services available?

I've only been able to find a very vague article posted on the 14th July saying that the rollout would commence in a week or two. Any approximations about how long it will take to get up and running? Wary of entering a 12 month contract with things like this (especially considering the very competitive prices of the Whangarei service) just around the corner.

Thanks.

I heard that work already started going ahead for this region, but also keen on confirmations.
Word was areas of northern hamilton were expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Wonder when the dialup will stop... Will Telecom keep the phones going after UFB is done now that they chorus has a UFB contract of its own?

Qualified in business, certified in fibre, stuck in copper, have to keep going  ^_^

Tauranga was won by WEL networks so Chorus won't be doing the fibre install there. TBH it usually takes years for this kind of thing to happen but I imagine Enable/WEL/northland power will be much faster than Chorus to get up and running.

Telecom have alreeady committed to keeping the NEAX's until 2020. Whether dialup will still be around then will depend entirely on how many ISP's keep supporting it.
