We are one of the unlucky people who are known as broadband wanters. Waiting ever patiently for broadband.
At the moment we are on the XT 4 + 4 deal which gives us 8GB of data. This has been working alright for us as long as we only surf the net and do very few downloads. But the issue is that we will lose 4GB at the end of this year when our 24 month contract ends, which would leave us high and dry to say the least.
We have called both Telecom and Orcon. Telecom have said they would call us back and never do and Orcon failed to grasp our situation and wanted us to sign up even when we know we cannot get broadband given our current situation.
We live in Taupaki about 20 min from the Auckland CBD and we are connected to the Kumeu Exchange. The exchange is about 7Km away and our cabinet is not going to be upgraded when the exchange is, towards the end of this year. Our neighbours are on the Massey exchange and the Massey line comes to the corner of our property.
When I do a search on the Telecom Wholesale maps site it says that we are able to get Broadband but it says were connected to the Massey exchange. Companies assume that we can get broadband as the map says we can.
Our house is approx. 1km from the road and our current cable to the house needs replacing after many years of abuse. We have no idea who it is we need to call to put the cable in the ground and hook us up to the Massey exchange.
Anyone able to provide any help would be greatly appreciated.
