HI
I know broadbad speeds relate to how close your connection is to an exchange but I seem to remember someone also said if you live close to a DSLAM box (at least I think thats what they called it ) is that one of those small cabinets you see on the side of the road or something totally different

Our speed like most others I see posted is getting slower we live about 4 km from our local exchange but we have one of those cabinets approx 500 mtrs away I was wondering if any way of swapping wires or whatever to get a boost

Thanks Pete

You should call and ask your ISP about this.

The DSLAMS remain at the exchange, you're referring to mini-dslams (also known as something else I can't spell) which are put into roadside cabinets. Generally if you're closer you should be put onto one of those.

However not all cabinets have them...
