Hi,

I currently have :

Asus P6T Deluxe
12GB Memory (DDR3 1600 I think)
i7 920 Processor

I'd like USB3 and I have upgraded most my other components.

Wondering what the current equivalent motherboard from Asus would be and what processor I should look at? I'd be in the i7 for sure.

I don't have a particular budget in mind, but I'd rather spend a little extra and get more than skimp to end up regretting it later. I'd want a pretty decent bump in performance.

I had a bunch to suggest, but I see the P6T has a buttload more DIMM sockets.
Do you want to stay with the X58 chipset or change to 1155/1156?

Happy to change since I'd need a new cpu and memory likely as well right?

So, the reason you want to upgrade is you want USB3.0? If that's all you need then why not just get something like this? -

Unless you really want a new combo, I would go for

one of these - INTEL CORE I7 3770K

and one of these -

Thanks Noc.

I have decided I'll wait for the next generation CPU's, since I am not in a screaming hurry and since my case doesn't have any front USB3. I'll do the case, motherboard, cpu and memory together.

I can overclock my existing system from 2.8 to 3.6 easily enough I had it done before and lost it during a bios upgrade.

I like the Antec P182B Gun Metal case, so I'd buy the current model Antec next time, but I'd like Audio, 2 USB 3 and a eSATA port on the front. Any ideas?

Those i7 CPUs overclock nicely and will give you a good performance boost till you upgrade.

Antec make some real nice cases. I almost bought an Antec Ninehundred V2 a while back. The P182B is Beast though. If you want to get that one, you can always go for a USB3.0 front panel solution like this:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Front_Panel_USB_30_Box/

I'm sure there is one with eSata built into it as well, but can't remember where I saw that
