I have a Radeon 7770 gfx card, and currently run it on an AMD Athlon 64 dual core 6000+ 3.0ghz

The motherboard is an AMD M478A or something, it has onboard video which I don't use.

I play WoW, starcraft, and thats about it... I'll pick up other similar games every now and then but generally just stick to the tried and true - so I mostly just care about performance with those two.

With that in mind I've been quoted from Extreme PC in St Lukes:

Motherboard: $160 +gst
Asus H87M-E Intel H87 mATX Haswell Socket 1150 4x DDR3-1600 PCI-E3.0 RAID USB3.0 SATA3 Onboard VGA/DVI/HDMI

Processor: $260 +gst
Intel Core i5 4570 3.2GHz Quad Core Processor 6M L3 Cache LGA1150 Latest Haswell

Kingston 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL11 DIMM $50 x2

Already have appropriate case psu, and an SSD drive

I've checked the prices via and it looks good - seems most of their mark up is on the ram, could just be sneaky and get that elsewhere and see if they'll still do the quote minus the ram.

That said - for my purposes is this ideal? i5 seems to be a no brainer as I won't make use of the extra cores in the i7, and the similarly priced AMD chips all benchmark significantly weaker than the i5.

I know nothing on the motherboard tho, so any thoughts are appreciated.

Looks fine, it's a big upgrade from a 2007 era cpu to a 2013 one, should be a decent fps boost in wow which I remember as being quite cpu dependant.
