reven: id also swap the 1tb for a 2tb.   games can get pretty big now days :)  and price difference is bugger all.

add up the price on pricespy, then do the same overseas.  you must factor in shipping, currency conversion, GST.

you will save overseas on SSD and GFX, but probably not enough at the low/mid end to bother with, but worth investigating.

personally ive only ever bought pc parts locally due to the savings not really be worth it.

Ok thanks, will have a look.

Is there much difference between the i5 4590 and i5 4670K?

If you want to overclock, go for the 4670K and get the most out of the CPU. If you don't want to then go for the 4590. Simple :)

this is pretty much what the "K" means :) and im guessing you dont want to overclock.  the 4590 is fast, with overclocking u can get 4GHz + but that would probably require some serious cooling upgrades etc.

theitman: Found this... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=752443044

You can easily build a better machine than that for 1k.

Minimum i5 otherwise you will be disappointed. Or grab the latest AMD CPU for around $150

Get the Mobo and CPU now (AMD $300 for both, Intel your looking at $4-500). Then grab Memory and SSD ($200). Install the OS, find a cheap GPU ($300) Leaves $200 for Case and PSU.

Find someone on here selling a 24" LED Screen for under 100. I just sold mine to a mate for $100. Just take your time and find the deals mate. Go into PBTech, tell them you want a machine for less than 1k with the specs you have specified and see what they can do for you. They have huge markup and if you buying multiple items then they will do a deal.

Where in NZ are you?

Actually second hand as in somebody has sold it back for money off another product or factory refurbished second hand?
I'd go for factory refurbished...But second hand is asking for trouble.  You have no idea where that thing has been, haha.

Wouldn't go that rout unless you got such a good deal on something you wouldn't care if it died next month.

Ok so this morning i got a new quote with a hybrid HDD just to lower the price. I want to get it to around 1k all up.

Any one know if these are any good? new quote is 1062 instead of 1300 as above.

Maybe ditch the SSD and HDD and get second hand ones?

Cheers
