theitman: Ok so this morning i got a new quote with a hybrid HDD just to lower the price. I want to get it to around 1k all up.

Any one know if these are any good? new quote is 1062 instead of 1300 as above.

Maybe ditch the SSD and HDD and get second hand ones?

Cheers

Have you got the cash? If so PM me with exactly what you want to the T and i'l see if i can help you out. I should be able to get close to wholesale for you on all of the above

Mat

It would have to go through my work account, so i would order it and i would give them your address for delivery. Only thing is i'd require the cash first. So, it comes down to trust i guess. We can talk outside of these forums

Hybrid drives don't have a very good reputation.  I'd suggest getting an SSD or a decent hard disk like a WD Black or 10,000 RPM drive if you can find one within the price range.  SSD will be best though. :)

Ok so about to make an order with PBtech.

Changed a few things round as don't really want to spend over 1k for the PC.

Intel Core i5-4590 Haswell
8gb ram
120gb SSD
1tb HD
Cooler Master V750S 80-Plus GOLD 750W PSU
Cooler Master 212 Evo Cpu cooler
COOLER MASTER K282 Black
ASRock B85M-ITX mb

Thoughts?

Great rig!

Before you make the ultimate decision, I'd suggest doing some research on the board to see if the revision you are set in concrete going to buy does not have any major factory issues.  I bought my 990FX UD5 board (which was the best AMD board at the time) and it had all kinds of issues from the factory, mostly those now fixed with firmware patches.

If clearence in your case checks out, I'd personally pick the Noctua NH D-14/15 series cooler over the CoolerMaster.  It's the best air cooler money can buy at the moment and I trust the brand FAR MORE than the CoolerMaster brand.  The support is so much better and their product is nothing but quality.  The cons would be the price tag and clearance with memory if they have heat spreaders (which are only cosmetic anyway)

Get a good thermal paste brand.  The Noctua compound is in the top three in terms of performance as far as I know.  Arctic Silver is a trusted brand, but I never use it personally.

Might want to check SSD performance on the chipset on the board you pick too.  SSD performance seems to sway quite drastically from board to board.  Specifically with AMD boards (which you don't need to worry about) but I've seen it on Intel boards too.

Im pretty sure on everything except the motherboard, trying to see if there is anything better for not much more.
Got a quote for everything above $899 minus gfx card and psu.

Motherboards are interesting...People have benched $70.00 ASRock Micro ATX boards against $500+ dollar ASUS ROG boards and they have come off the same.  I'd say the amount of PCI-E slots, SATA chipset and BIOS features matter the most.  Spending extra money for gimmics like armor plated boards to channel heat to a little fan won't do you much good.

Why go with an ATX case with a Mini ITX board?

That was what i was recommended but i think that was when i was going for the smaller case.

Right time to find a new motherboard!

Or a smaller case, i have an ATX MSI G45 mobo im getting rid of to go to a micro ATX so i can have a smaller case. Looks tidier on the desk. I'm waiting on the Corsair Carbide Air 240 - this does mitx and matx - releases in August
