M00S3:
ubergeeknz: Go and have a look at: http://www.logicalincrements.com/  a handy guide to PC components / price point.

Cheers for that link, ive bookmarked that as its definately going to be useful in the future.

So I guess the best example of my confusion is below

EVGA GTX970 4GB CUDA 1664 1778Mhz $574

VS

EVGA GTX980 4GB CUDA 2048, 1216Mhz $919

Why does +384 CUDA, +562Mhz =  + $344! (nearly a dollar a CUDA)

i found some time to look at comparisons.

Price difference: 40%

Performance difference: 10-30%, average 20%

The choice is yours

I think the 970 was a good choice, I had one before I had my 980, it is unquestionably the better value for money gpu. I got the 980 for the horsepower and my future plans for SLI + 4K. The 970 is all you need at 1080p and will still be pretty solid at 1440p (though you would need to add a second one to crank video settings right up).

AMD R9 3xx series and GTX 980 Ti should be coming out soon which will push the price of the 980 and 970 down hopefully.
