After reading a post about what security one should run on a gaming computer and finding out about privacy badger I thought it would be interesting to find out what other people are using and what they recommend.

I'll start off. I use defender for AV it just works for me no issues so I would recommend as a free option. Browser Firefox with https everywhere, adblock plus, WOT, Windefender and now privacy badger.

I'm fairly relaxed. I have nothing vital on my many computers, though I would be annoyed to lose any of it. At present I just have Windows Firewall and Defender for the first layer, with Malwarebytes for anything that does get through. Chrome is my browser of choice, with Ghostery to temper the ads. I should add that I have never had a problem of any kind, and that is not just ignorance speaking. Because of my data cap I keep a close eye on my traffic and I use a debit card for purchases. I have never lost money, passwords, or data. I also never see targeted advertising. In fact, I hardly ever see advertising at all.

i use Waterfox with Ublock origin and defender and once a month i run malwarebytes and i cant remember the last time i got any warnings. i dont really care if i get attacked there is nothing on my PC that i worry about, if it got to bad i would just start again from scratch.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

No antivirus software.

I am just careful what I open.

But to ensure a cryptolocker cant get me, I do have an offsite backup with roll-back versioning capability. Not a "sync" type.

Use a macbook pro and haven't installed any anti-malware products. I am very careful though and use a separate Windows 10 VM on a segregated network for torrents and the like.

When you live your life on Twitter and Facebook, and are only friends with like minded people on Twitter and Facebook, you are not living in the real world. You are living in a narcissistic echo chamber.
