29/6 is launch day No idea in NZ I am probably going to order one from Amazon if I can get a factory overclocked model or if the reference design enough to handle a 100-150Mhz overclock with out being too loud I will probably grab one of those.

If leaked performance data turns out to be correct this is one fast card

First card showing on pricespy, 8gb version for $550, terrible pricing if it's an accurate listing.

Yeah Mighty ape had it listed for $499 for awhile.

I think importing will be the better option at those prices.

Buy from Europe or the UK with the way the exchange rate is going, probably cheaper than the states right now!

A couple of weeks ago Mightyape were advertising the Sapphire 8GB version for $499.99 for pre-orders to start shipping out June 28th (today) to have on the 29th. It also had some extra information under the price saying this was not necessary the final price, just the maximum and if the price dropped before launch you pay the lower price.

A few days later I couldn't find it listed anywhere, and when I went through my history and clicked on the link it was not longer available to order. https://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/Sapphire-AMD-Radeon-RX-480-8GB-Graphics-Card/25290248

Looking at some leaked numbers, its not pretty.

It scores similarly to a R9 380X, or overclocked GTX 970. The leaked sample refuses to overclock more than 5%. And it costs more than a GTX 970.

Welcome to 2014, AMD...

Don't get me wrong, I've been a Radeon supporter since the 9700 pro days (last Nvidia card was a Gefore 4 ti 4200), but I'll be trying a green card this time around.

Its performing as expected at $100US cheaper than the 970s, seems like a pretty good buy to me. Unless NVidia brings out a new gen card at the same price/performance.

It was always going to be between a 970 and a 980 i thought ie when people subtract out the AMD factor. c.f. On paper between 980 and 1070 without the fuzz factor

Swype on iOS is detrimental to accurate typing. Apologies in advance.

Its main challenge will be the 1060 as that appears to be priced similar from all reports.  If it can beat that then its in the right place; AMD having got a high end or premium replacement right now.

AMD have been trying to stop the leaks as it's hurting them. That's because those leaks are not using the latest drivers and as a result are showing much lower performance than can be expected.

They're not very smart then. THey should set up their own "leaks" with proper drivers used. Like Apple would "accidentally" leave a phone in a bar.

There are so many conflicting "leaks" out there so showing stellar performance and OCing potential others showing mediocre performance. I'm guessing the 970ish performance to be about right. DX12 is where I can see this card pulling well ahead of the 970.

I rekon you just slow down a little more credible info will be out in the next couple of days. I got a mate who has picked up 2 of these cards today. I'll get him to install the latest driver and run some benches over the next day or two and one with a crossfire. And I'll let you know when I know. I am guessing it's very close to the GTX980. Slightly better than the GTX970.
