I have become addicted to my small handheld mini-keyboard for late night browsing from bed. It is a great little gadget. Unfortunately, it is also a useless low quality piece of crap. The idea is great. The design is perfect. It is exactly what I want. But I have now had two of them and they have both failed. The first started typing multiple characters when a key is pressed, the second started generating random commands after a few weeks.

I love the idea of this but the quality is hopeless. Can anyone recommend something like it that actually works and will keep working for a reasonable time? I am not a gamer and don't want an air mouse, just a wireless mini-keyboard with trackpad.

Here is a link just to illustrate what I am talking about. I have not bought one form this supplier and I am not suggesting that these particular units are faulty, just saying that this one looks identical to the ones that have crapped out on me.

Microsoft and logitec ones look ok. Ive been watching the pricing.... entry level around $40 at the moment.

I run our HTPC with a Logitech K400.

It is a bit larger than the one you show, but it is decent quality.

PBTech have the Microsoft wireless media keyboard on special this weekend for $45.

Thanks for the above suggestions but they are not what I want. I have found a device at PB Tech that looks identical to the cheap crap I already have. The difference is it costs more. Is it likely that the cheap ones are inferior copies that look the same but are not as good? I know a lot of stuff gets counterfeited in China but these mini-keyboards are not big ticket brand name items. How is PB Tech for warranties? The one advantage of buying from them is their one-year guarantee and CGA. I really want to find a device exactly like this one but I don't want to keep pouring money into things that fail after a few weeks.

Here is the one at PB Tech:

Update: I fixed it. See my post  in DIY if interested.
