Years ago I came across some Windows software that was a image gallery system that I could run to allow people to view my pics via their browser.....  I stopped using it when I discovered Wordpress etc but now I have the need for that program or similar again.

Can anyone recommend anything ?

I want to avoid the LAMP/linux based route for this particular project. I did look at picapport but its Java and hammers the disk like nothing I've seen before.

TIA

Just as I was about to suggest a simple PHP page and simpleviewer.. (commonly supplied app on NAS for simple use and included in wordpress) I see they are closing it in favour of their alternates :/

https://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/

I've also used Ngallery back in the day.

Have you got a NAS?  They are great for this kind of role.

No, have Windows "server" (old Dell running Win 7) in the garage (currently running everything else), hence why the Windows option required :)  I could run a Vbox LAMP system but linking that back to the images on a local Windows disk could be fun :) I might take a look at it but figured if something straight forward is already out there....... :)

Have a look at http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-install-wordpress-on-your-windows-computer-using-wamp/

Not tried it my self.

On windows 10 you can you Microsoft's  "Web Platform Installer" ( https://www.microsoft.com/web/downloads/platform.aspx ) to install wordpress to run on windows. Can't remember if Web Platform Installer is available for windows 7.

I know about Wamp/LAMP etc :) Been using them for years, just after a quickfire Windows solution for this one :)

Taking a look at Ngallery to see if that does what I want... otherwise Ill be firing up a VM and playing with a PHP based gallery package and how I can get it to read my Windows shares.

I used this for a while, some years ago. Uses the WAMP platform. Worked well and is open source so no cost.
