I built my computer yesterday and had a succesful POST and entered the BIOs. I did not hook up my CD/DVD drive yet as I was short a SATA cable, which I already ordered from NEWEGG. So to install Vista I copied all the files from the Vista Installation DVD to my 8GB flash drive and set my boot sequence in the BIOs to boot from the Flash Drive. Then I saved the changes and restarted my computer and got the message:
"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"
I don't know what to do!! :( I made sure that it wasnt readng my Floppy Drive instead of my Flash by disabling the Floppy Drive. Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!
Here are my system specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition
Motherboard. MSI K9A2 CF Version 2
GPU: ATI Radeon HD4850
730 Watt Power Supply
Western Digital Caviar 250 GB

Please Help!!!!

I think the problem is that USB flash drives are not bootable out of the box, in general (I think?).  Anyway, try these instructions.

Bazzers on the right track...
I cant recall exactly which program i used, but it re-formats and loads all the boot files , mouse drivers etc.. (approx 25Mb)
Im not on vista, but im sure that there is a new version of the program for vista machines(64-bit version)

Also... my machines seems to read my bootable USB as HDD-0 or HDD-1, so if your still having no luck after you've formatted the FlashDrive, try changing the boot sequence again...
