I need to get a new PSU for my PC.. the problem i have is, it needs to have 2 x 6 pin PCIe connectors on (for a ATI 4870 card).

The long and the short of it is, that my current psu (a 550W i believe) doesn't have the appropriate connectors on, and I need to make sure the new one has..

There is a fair bit of other crap in the pc, and i like to do a bit of over clocking here and there, so it would need to be a fairly hefty unit i believe...

Any suggestions  on PSU and or where to buy one from ??? (i'm Auckland based)

Nice graphics card.
Your current 550W power supply should have enough juice to run it, assuming its a decent brand. From what I remember the card requires a 450-500W power supply, so instead of buying a whole new power supply you might want to look at buying one or two molex to 6pin PCIe adapter. Your 4870 might even come with one... my 4850 did. There are a few on Trade me [Link - First one that came up].

There again if you have a cheaper power supply from a brand like Icute, it might not be enough to power you 4870, so you might want to look at new power supplys... I suggest a corsair power supply like this one, some actual details can be found here. It costs a bit, but its good quality it has two 6/8 pin PCIe connectors and a lot of others... I use its little brother, a corsair 620HX, to power my system and it works great.

:) cheers for the response !

I've actually been out and bought a new PSU... a erm. HighPower 1000W psu..

I'd always scrimped on PSU's, and thought, as i've got so many devices, and power requirements that i'd finally buy myself a decent psu..

The thing arrived the other day, and it weighs an absolute ton... just need the pc to arrive on the boat now :)
