I have just recieved a new custom built PC to test...

INTEL Desktop Board D865PESO. 1.6GHz.. 80GB HD + 2GB RAM using XP SP2

i loaded our (cloned) image on (was expecting to have driver issues so no big surprise there)

I have searched high and low for drivers for the ethernet controller but no luck...

Is using an S-tech RJ-45 + 2xUSB 2.0 Mag-integrated connector (chip= RTL8102EL (realtek))

Obviously i cant use auto update for drivers etc until i get the network connection sorted...

Put XP disc in and tried manually searching, but it only has

 RTL8029 and RTL8139 adapters

Anyone have any ideas?
Have already searched Intel website... S-tech... Realtek... Cant find a reference to the adapter anywhere on windows website either....

Have already downloaded and tried all of those drivers on Intel website but no luck...
Come up with a list of Network Components with red crosses next to them

VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet adapter
VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet adapter
VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet adapter
VIA Rhine III Fast Ethernet adapter

all of the above say 'No String Found' Id 3009 DLL_8023 Locale 1409...

causes and solutions etc say pretty much the same but with different Id #'s...

Download UnknownDeviceIdentifier and see what it sees the chips as - could be faulty board though.

Thanks for the suggestion...

I downloaded the UnknownDeviceIdentifier as suggested...

Installed fine but it will not start the program...

It comes up on the Task Manager Processes list as using 99% of CPU

But thats where it stalls (no windows/interface or anything)

Could it just be the the Image i loaded on is too different and is not going to be compatible with the new hardware??

All the other drivers etc installed fine by themself

Only the Ethernet Controller and Video Controller (VGA Compatible) have yellow question marks next to them (in device manager) and communication port (COM1) has a yellow exclamation mark...

Have found the network driver i needed...
Just in case anyone else comes across this problem in the future...

Contrary to what the realtek website states, the RTL8102 (realtek network chip) is not part of the RTL810X series...
Hence, the suggested driver did not work...

Correct driver is located here.... ftp://66.104.77.130/cn/nic/PCIE_Install_5702_0828.zip
